Built In Storage in Old Cottage
This bedroom really required built in storage. This client had no storage in their lovely old cottage so employed us to utilise the space between the beams as built-in storage in their old cottage. The beam running horizontally was very deep so provided perfect storage for bedroom items.
Old Cottages, Oak Beams & New Oak Storage
Old 500 year old cottage with stunning period and traditional details. Not one room with a straight wall or level surface, makes built furniture a real challenge. Obviously nothing off the shelf fits to this interior, either by size or style. Desperately wanting storage but not a nasty clash of style of finishes. We created […]
Bookcases, Display Shelves built in and freestanding

With world book day this week, we thought it a good opportunity to display some bookcases and shelves from the project archives and some of our favourite designers. Simple designs and simple storage, but when done well the books have a task of holding their own against the furniture. Archer Furniture Classic freestanding bookcases. Traditional […]
Old Properties full of character, but no furniture storage
We had a call a few months back from a lovely client who just moved into to an 300 year old cottage, desperate for furniture storage ideas. Classic Cotswold stoneworks and heavy structural timbers, but for all the charm, beams, character and period details. Not one wall was straight, true, plumb or level. Along with […]

English Heritage Reproduction Furniture Commissions
Over the years we have been involved with heritage clients. These projects are often as much a learning process as they are a privilage to work on. Working closely with historians, archivists and specialist craftsmen, reproduction pieces are designed and built remaining close to the period and techniques of the time. Our recent commission at […]
Chairs for sitting & Chairs for storage
Be it dining room chairs, lounge seats, storage benches, when we are asked to make chairs or design seats, clients are often surprised by the amount of work involved to create a good seat. As a lot of the time in the construction is taken up by pattern and jig forming, the initial chair is […]
Curved Walnut TV Cabinet
This was a curved walnut TV cabinet which made brilliant use of an unused corner. Sometimes the furniture we create is secondary to the clients primary needs. The furniture is not always a showpiece or a talking point, but more a way to create a stage to display some other precious item. This brief […]
